A culture of  intelligently confronting oppressors was formed in the 1960s with the rise of the Black Panther Party, The Young Lords, and other socialist militant groups. These groups focused on organizing mutual aid networks for their communities. Groups like these planned and funded programs to educate minority youth about their rights and history. These groups advocated for change alongside their communities and were willing to provide protection from abuse when necessary.

The NAA hopes to follow in their footsteps by aiming to address the immediate problems in our community. This group aims to promote wellbeing with our projects and advocate for self defense by teaching latinos about their History, Legal Rights, and other subjects our communities are not often offered education in.
